The Dry Run

I was challenged to conceptualize a broadsheet publication based on the content of a literary work.

Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes holds a special place in my heart. Taking the themes of the story, I designed a broadsheet publication to test my ability to create a cohesive typographic hierarchy system. At the same time, I chose to diverge from typical publication norms just enough to convey a distance from normalcy while keeping the copy easy to dive into.

A black and white newspaper spread is laid out on a flat surface. The upper right corner is lightly folded over the show the contents of the cover.
Three copies of the newspaper are laid out to feature the front page content. They are all overlapping one another.
The lower half of the opening page is featured in overlapping, folded-in-half editions of the newspaper.
